2011-2012 Competition

The National Art Competition has a six-year theme cycle: painting, fibers, printmaking, photography, clay, and open medium. Fiber Arts is the medium for the 2011–2012 program year. View the National Art Experience_Youth Form for more information.

Keep an eye on the Council's website Calendar and the Club Events pages for more information about activities.

About the Competition...

Camp Fire USA holds a National Art Competition each year which is open to youth from any Camp Fire program. The purposes of the competition are to encourage creativity and explore art as a career.

Prior Years

The theme for the 2009–10  National Art Competition was “Art Goes Green.” It encouraged environmental and nature projects and included such categories as art, drama, and music. Youth were urged to capture and communicate what it means to “be green” today—its significance to them and their futures, to their communities, and to the world—and how individuals are engaging in these “green” practices.

In February, council members participated in a hands-on workshop provided by community volunteer Barb White, a former Camp Fire girl. A great time was had by all. Follow the link below to see photos from the workshop (or click here to download the Recycling Into Art handout that Barb provided).
