Canoe Weekend is
BACK!
Cancelled for 2010 - Watch
for announcements for 2011
Sure you could spend another weekend hanging out in front of the
television or on your computer. You're guaranteed to be warm and
dry—but aren't you ready to try something new?
If so, join us for Canoe Weekend, an Orca Council tradition that
was lost for a few years, but now it's back and promises to be
more fun than ever.
This event is open to boys and girls in grades 5-10 and has something for everybody, whether you are new to canoeing, or
have some canoe experience and just want to improve your skills.
When we're not on the water, we will be making new friends—or
getting to know old friends better, cooking some meals outdoors,
playing games, sitting around a campfire, and, at the end of a long day, falling into
bed in heated cabins. Campers will be assigned to cabins with
campers of the same gender and age group.
We will be canoeing on Summit Lake, just 16 miles west of
Olympia at Camp
Thunderbird, the site of this year's resident
camp, and the event will be staffed by some familiar Camp Smokey
staff, counselors and cooks.
