Each year, approximately 200 of Camp Fire USA's
630,000 youth members attain the honor of the Wohelo Award. This award is
earned by a dedicated few who complete four "Reflections" that demonstrate
a commitment to Camp Fire USA and advocate for improved social conditions.
There are many ways a youth member can earn the
Wohelo Award. He or she chooses a topic of interest and develops projects
and advocates based on that topic. Advocacy actions that a Wohelo Award
recipient must achieve are to Lead, Teach, Serve and
Speak Out.
Wohelo Award recipients are among the most dedicated
and hardest working of the Camp Fire membership. This award has stood for
high achievement since its inception in 1962. At that time it was called
the Wohelo Medallion.
